President Meric Gertler of the University of Toronto Visited the China Institute for Urban Governance

On the morning of November 26th, Prof. Merric Gertler, President of the University of Toronto, Prof. David Palmer, Vice President, Associate Professor Christopher Yip, Associate Professor Matti Siemiatycki, Associate Professor of Department of Geography and Planning, and Executive Director of International Affairs Office, Professor Gwen Burrows, visited the China Institute for Urban Governance. Party Secretary of the School of International and Public Affairs, Party Branch Secretary of the China Institute for Urban Governance Jiang Wenning, Associate Dean of the School of International and Public Affairs Fan Bo, and Jia Hua Professor Chen Jie of the China Institute for Urban Governance, Peng Jingjing, deputy director of international cooperation and exchange at the School of International and Public Affairs, Xie Boming, foreign secretary of the China Academy of Urban Governance, and related teachers of the International Exchange Office, warmly hosted President Meric Gertler in the 821 conference room of the New Administration Building B. The two sides held a symposium on international exchange and cooperation projects.
First of all, Secretary Jiang Wenning warmly welcomed the visit of President Meric Gertler of the University of Toronto and reviewed the exchange and cooperation between the China Institute for Urban Governance and the University of Toronto. On behalf of the institute and the college, Mr. Xie Boming and Mr. Peng Jingjing briefly introduced the internationalization strategy of Shanghai Jiaotong University, the status quo and development plan of the China Institute for Urban Governance, and the undergraduate cooperation projects to be carried out by the School of International and Public Affairs. They also expressed their expectation for the deeper cooperation between the two sides. President Meric Gertler of the University of Toronto first expressed his gratitude to the reception of the China Institute for Urban Governance. He gave a detailed account of the University of Toronto's latest developments in urban governance and the current state of the University of Toronto's international collaboration program. He hoped that the two sides could broaden the scope of cooperation, actively promote exchanges between teachers and students of the two schools, and further improve the level of cooperation between the two sides.
