讲座内容简介

Environmental protection and nature conservation have become prominent national development goals in China. Environmental governance is defined as government agencies, civil society, and transnational organizations who work through formal and informal institutions to manage and conserve environmental and natural resources, control pollution, and resolve environmental conflicts (Li 2006). Practical management tools for addressing environmental challenges include diagnosing, influencing and bargaining, learning, and socializing and learning (Li and Mauerhofer 2016). In this seminar, Wanxin Li will report her explorations in understanding China’s environmental governance. More specifically, she will share, from a macro to a micro level, diagnosis of policy design (Li 2016), institutional capacity of environmental protection bureaus (Li and Zusman2006 ; Li and Chan 2009), and distribution and driving forces of carbon emissions (Cai et al. 2018). In the meantime, she will also report analysis of influencing and bargaining (Li 2012), learning (Li 2011), and socializing and learning (Ajzen1991 ; Li 2015) among different actors in China’s environmental governance. 

演讲嘉宾简介：

李万新博士任教于香港城市大学公共及社会行政学系，于清华大学获得工学学士和法学硕士学位，于美国弗吉尼亚理工大学获得统计学硕士和公共政策与管理博士学位。曾在世界银行、经济合作与发展组织以及清华大学从事研究工作或担任兼职教授，主要研究方向为政策实验、政策评价、环境公共治理、社会福利和不平等。在《Nature》、《The China Quarterly》、《Journal of Environmental Management》、《Journal of Contemporary China》、《Land Use Policy》等国外顶级期刊发表多篇论文。
